Volleyball Team on the Brink of Playoff Appearance

After a tough loss to Clackamas Community College Saturday, the UCC volleyball team sits in fourth place in the final Playoff seat.

According to Coach Munoz, the Lady Riverhawks are in the running for the playoff berth.  “We need to win the next two of three games to secure a playoff appearance.”

The team has overcome two serious obstacles this season.  First the lack of funding has been a major issue with budget cuts, causing the volleyball team to primarily rely on fundraising.  The second obstacle has been integrating a new coaching system.  However, the players don’t see the system that way.  “He brings a lot of competitiveness and motivation which makes us a better team,” said Linsey Jones.

The intensity of Coach Munoz and his players is contagious.  The crowd was on the edge of their seats for the majority of the game.  Creating that much excitement is something not every volleyball coach is able to do.  Their next home game at the UCC gymnasium is Nov. 9 at 7 p.m.
